Many graduate and professional schools request the scores on standardized tests as part of their admission criteria. These scores help them to compare candidates’ skills and knowledge in a variety of relevant areas.

There are preparation books and materials available from test providers, and also major publishers, at a cost of around $50 and up. Visit the test provider’s website (in tip sheet above) or your local bookstore for specific costs. We also have a sample of a prep book for each of the most common standardized admission tests in the AA&CC resource centre library – please visit to take a look through them.
You may decide you would like some help preparing for these admission tests. Ask your Departmental Student Association if they intend to provide any test preparation support.
The University also provides some limited test preparation support. For example, the Law Faculty offers a LSAT preparation program for high-potential, low-income students. For details, eligibility and application process, please visit their website.
