Global Asia Studies at the University of Toronto Scarborough

U of T Scarborough is where global Asia studies comes alive — Scarborough is one of the most multicultural parts of the Greater Toronto Area, renowned for its vibrant diasporas from countries across South and East Asia. We link your academics to Toronto's Asian communities through exciting co-curricular and extra-curricular programming, giving you frequent opportunities for socially responsible and rigorous experiential learning.

Your courses will examine Asia’s influence across the world and within diasporas in greater depth with each year, then in your upper-level courses, you’ll conduct your own research and analysis and present your findings in research essays. You’ll learn to use cutting-edge methods and theories from academic fields across the humanities, and your courses will investigate topics including gender, diasporas and migration, religion, development and nationalism in different contexts. You can also integrate language studies into your program, with courses in Hindi, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese counting toward your degree.
