Internal University of Toronto Transfers

Applying to Transfer

Use the University of Toronto Internal Application if you have previously registered at the University of Toronto in a degree, Pre-University program, or as a Non-degree student (this does not include Continuing Education studies). The Internal Application becomes available in mid-October. An application fee of $90 will be required.

Re-Enrollments

If you’ve previously been a student at the University of Toronto and want to return to the same faculty or division you attended, get in touch with your former Registrar's Office. They can help you determine whether you’re eligible to re-register, or if you must re-apply using this application. Note that you will need to pay a non-refundable fee of $90.
 

Transfer Applicants from Another Accredited Canadian University

We are pleased to consider your application if you have achieved a good academic standing. We will look at your overall academic record with more emphasis placed on your last year of full-time study. Proof of adequate English facility may be required when applying. For more details, visit the English Language Facility section of the site.

Prerequisites

The following programs are considered limited-enrolment programs. Normally, you should have completed our equivalent of 4.0 transferable credits to be considered for direct admission to these programs. If you do not have 4.0 transferable credits, we may consider you for an alternate program (for example, the non Co-op version).

Program Requirements
Biological Sciences (including Co-op)
  • Our equivalent of 4.0 transferable credits to be considered for direct admission to Biological Sciences programs.
  • We also expect that you have taken similar first-year courses to U of T Scarborough students at your university. The U of T Scarborough Course Calendar has details about the courses our students take.

Students without these courses are welcome to apply but may need to do additional courses after admission to satisfy program entry requirements. If you do not have 4.0 transferable credits, we may consider you for an alternate program. 

Management (including
Co-op)

  • Our equivalent of 4.0 transferable credits to be considered for direct admission to Management.
  • No more than 6.0 transferable credits
  • We also expect that you have taken similar first-year courses to U of T Scarborough students at your university. The U of T Scarborough Course Calendar has details about the courses our students take.

Students without these courses are welcome to apply but may need to do additional courses after admission to satisfy program entry requirements. If you do not have 4.0 transferable credits, we may consider you for an alternate program. 

Restrictions

If you have completed the equivalent of more than half of your requirements at another university, you have exceeded the residency requirement for U of T and therefore may be required to apply as a second degree applicant.The residency requirement requires at least half of your degree to be completed at U of T to be eligible for a U of T degree.  Please contact us for further information about this requirement when transferring should you require it.

The following programs are not eligible for admission if you are transferring with more than one year of full-time university-level study:

  • Co-op International Development Studies
  • All Co-op Management programs (including Co-op Management & International Business)
  • Co-op Molecular Biology & Biotechnology
  • Co-op Neuroscience
