Courses in Hydrogeology/Environmental Science UNDERGRADUATE EESC07F GROUNDWATER - FALL
term evening course EESD02S CONTAMINANT HYDROGEOLOGY - evenings - WINTER term - NOT CURRENTLY OFFERED Students considering this course require a good basic understanding in chemistry and mathematics (in each case, at least one year university level). Contaminant Hydrogeology examines all aspects related to the transport of chemicals in the groundwater system. Topics cover most, if not all of the following: the development and application of contaminant transport equations; geochemical processes affecting natural water chemistry (including lithology and groundwater residence); environmental isotopes and their use in groundwater investigation; water quality standards; contaminant sources (inorganic and organic); landfill site selection and design. Evaluation will normally be based on course assignments (20%), mid-term exam (20%) and final exam (60%). NOTE: For students who are currently taking this course, course material, assignments etc. can be found at http://www.utsc.utoronto.ca/~gwater/EESD02/ (login and password required)
COSTA RICA Undergraduate Geology Field Course (normally every two years) GRADUATE EES1108 FIELD COURSE Costa Rica - OFFERED EVERY TWO YEARS (next offered 2022) 11
day field trip exploring a wide
range of environments from the top of the mountains (volcanoes) to the the beach and below!! This course has everything you
would want in an environmental science field course….not
to be missed!
This course focuses on groundwater contamination and the various methods used to investigate, assess and evaluate the movement and behavior of contaminants in the subsurface. It has a strong component of basic groundwater flow and aquifer storage. Emphasis will be on urban groundwater issues with case study examples taken from North America, Europe, central Asia and Africa. |
