In the bustling hallways of U of T Scarborough that have seen many a legends-in-making, a vibrant group of students brought new energy and enthusiasm to their typical leadership roles in order to create a more connected and inclusive community on campus. 

The 2024 U of T Student Leadership Awards have recognized these remarkable students for their exceptional contributions to various initiatives housed at U of T Scarborough. As we honour their achievements, they join the prestigious legacy of over 4,000 past Cressy Award recipients who have left a lasting impact on our institution.

This year's awardees include:

  • Laraib Abrar

    Laraib co-founded Students for Epilepsy Awareness, creating a supportive space for individuals affected by epilepsy to share and connect within the UTSC.

  • Oluwadamilola (Lola) Fakolujo

    Lola, as Co-President of the Management and Economic Student Association (MESA), led initiatives supporting the needs of 3,000 students, enhancing their academic and professional journeys.
  • Mafaz Gehani

    Mafaz played a pivotal role in launching transformative initiatives and spearheaded successful fundraisers, notably raising over $30K for community projects at UTSC.
  • Pratik Guha

    Pratik shone in the Wellness Peer Programs, where he spearheaded campaigns to elevate student awareness on crucial wellness topics.

  • Sophia Jiang

    Sophia serves as Co-President of Best Buddies UTSC and Director of Finance at PSSA, promoting friendships and inclusion between students and people with disabilities.

  • Aditya Kulkarni

    Aditya, President of the Data Science and Statistics Society, is a tech entrepreneur and educator who has significantly contributed to programming in the CMS Department.
  • Julia Ming Lo

    Julia is renowned for her leadership in creating engaging events and fostering strong community connections that enhance student life at UTSC.
  • Sanah Malik

    Sanah, Founder of The Refugees and Immigrants Organisation, has been instrumental in advocating for and supporting marginalized communities through disciplined action.

  • Line Nassif

    Line, as a student staff member at UTSC Residence, organized inclusive events that offered mentorship to over 1,000 residents.

  • Etinosa Oliogu

    Etinosa celebrated her extensive collaboration with Imani, impacting Black undergraduates and local youth through educational and developmental programs.
  • Coralie Rimaud

    Coralie, through her work with MoveU, orchestrated innovative events that bridge the gap between student life and physical activity, fostering a healthier campus environment.

  • Yomni Makonnen Tesfaye

    Yomni has been a beacon of leadership in Residence Life, Imani, and AccessAbility, championing community building and inclusivity.
  • Aqsa Zahid

    Aqsa developed vital presentations on accessible mental health resources, ensuring UTSC students know where and how to seek help.

 

As we commend these students for their outstanding contributions, we also look forward to seeing how they will continue to impact the world. They have not only excelled in their roles but have also paved the way for future leaders to emerge and flourish at U of T Scarborough.
