Sean Chen, Nicole Mones, and Carolyn Phillips
October 30, 2018 - 12:00 to 14:00
Culinaria Kitchen, SW 313, U of T Scarborough Campus
This is going to be an exciting, thoughtful, and delicious afternoon!
We are celebrating the launch of Sean Chen’s translation of the classic text Suiyuan Shidan, Recipes From The Garden Of Contentment: Yuan Mei’s Manual of Gastronomy.
This is the first English edition of the Suiyuan Shidan 随園食, one of the world’s most famous books about food. It is both a culinary treatise and a cookbook, written in the late eighteenth century by the poet and chef Yuan Mei 袁枚.
The discussion portion of this afternoon will include:
Sean Chen, the translator of the Recipes From The Garden Of Contentment
Nicole Mones, author of The Last Chinese Chef and Night in Shanghai
Carolyn Phillips, author of All Under Heaven: Recipes from the 35 Cuisines of China and The Dim Sum Field Guide
Afterwards, indulge in the incredible culinary offerings created specifically for this event by Chef Nick Liu of DaiLo Restaurant. Nick will be cooking his interpretations of several recipes from the Suiyuan Shidan.
Because space is limited we ask you to honour your reservation and will be writing a few days before the event to confirm your attendance.
Bookings are now full for the 30 October event, Recipes From The Garden of Contentment.
We have opened a wait list on the Eventbrite site, and expect some additional places will become available
