Hey Everyone!
My name is Muhammad Ali Akbar and I will be entering my fourth year at UTSC with a double major in International Development and Public Policy. As a QE scholar I will be headed to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania for the summer working as a Fundraising Advisor with the Tanzanian Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC). My job will be to assist and write proposals to help increase sponsorships and connections for the chamber of commerce and help facilitate business growth in the region. I will work closely with women to help carry out sustainable business practices that can be beneficial after I depart the country.
I am both honored and humbled to have been selected as a QE scholar as it has opened the doors to an opportunity I would not have even thought was possible. To connect with a vast network of other talented individuals from all over Canada is one of the many perks I attain from this scholarship. As a QE scholar I am gaining invaluable work experience that will act as a stepping stone as I continue my professional growth and development. Moving forward in life, I do wish to be actively involved in the foreign affairs and international security sector and work towards economic development in the global south. I look forward to what exciting challenges the future holds starting with this internship in Tanzania!
