S.P.O.R.T.

As a strategy to help you remember information, use the acronym SPORT.  This is short for:

Say to yourself, “Where did I see this information while studying?"

  • Try to think of where the information was located in a certain book, certain chapter, certain page of lecture notes, or certain flash card.

Picture in your head what you read or wrote.

  • Close your eyes and visualize the information just as you saw it while studying.
  • Try to remember what you said aloud when you studied.

Organize in your mind all of the study aids you used.

  • Mnemonics, acrostics, flash cards, mind maps, 2 column notes, etc.
  • Think about study notes you made, keywords, and pictures.

Remember to “dump” all the information as you recall it.

  • Write everything you remember on scrap paper or on the back of the test.

Tell yourself that you need to look at the “dumped” information.

  • Look at everything you wrote on scrap paper or on the back of the test.
  • Make sure you include everything in your answer.
