More Colour More Pride Flag

To celebrate Pride month, we once again raise the More Colours More Pride Flag on the U of T Scarborough campus, with this year’s Pride theme at U of T Scarborough being “Love Is Here”, signifying that love is about embracing diversity, different sexualities and ethnicities and acknowledge that our collective stories are about gratitude and acceptance and celebration of all our differences, and that love remains here for us always.

What is ‘More Colour; More Pride’ flag?

The ‘More Colour; More Pride’ flag, includes the addition of a brown and black stripe, highlighting the inclusion of queer, trans, Black, Indigenous and people of colour (QTBIPOC).

How did the ‘More Colour; More Pride’ flag originate?

It originated in Philadelphia in 2017 and the purpose was to address issues of racism and exclusion in Philadelphia’s gay neighbourhood. This new symbol raised the attention of communities of colour globally, and has helped with important conversations about intersectionality, address forms of exclusion and barriers to full participation within the community.

Why is the ‘More Colour; More Pride’ flag important to the University of Toronto?

Increasing visibility of Black and Indigenous LGBTQ2S+ people and queer and trans people of colour aligns with U of T’s institutional values of equity, diversity and inclusion.
