The objective of the LFP is to give exceptionally high-performing and high potential University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) Management students practical exposure to highly competitive careers in finance, management consulting, and entrepreneurship to help kickstart their careers.

The LFP founding team and their respective networks have significant experience within management consulting, finance, and entrepreneurship which places the LFP in a unique and differentiated position to provide a deeply impactful experience to students.

The LFP aims to create impact by providing students with the requisite access and guidance to accelerate the development of their professional, leadership, communication, and networking skills, enabling them to achieve their career and personal aspirations.

Program Curriculum

The LFP consists of two primary components: (i) In-class sessions (online), and (ii) Mentorship program (mix of in-person and remote).

  • In-class sessions
    • The program consists of 8 weekly 2-hour sessions (specific dates to be finalized). The sessions are delivered and moderated by the LFP founding team, with scheduled guest speakers for each session.
    • Guest speakers include various industry experts who provide insights and advice from their respective careers, interview preparation, technical skills training, along with various other components that provide LFP students with exposure to these careers and gives them an advantage in their professional development.
    • Past guest speakers have included senior professionals from firms such as BCG, RBC Capital Markets, Onex, Brookfield, and many others.
  • Mentorship program
    • Each LFP student is assigned a mentor (a member of the LFP founding team). Mentors are responsible for providing career advice and guidance to their mentees. Mentors also assist mentees in securing summer internships or co-op positions in their desired fields.
    • The mentorship program is designed to continue beyond the 8 weeks of in-class sessions and include the following key elements:
      • Regular check-in calls and/or meetings
      • Introductions to industry professionals
      • Ad hoc career support and advice as needed
    • The intent for the LFP is to build a strong network of highly motivated and capable students who thrive in the professional world beyond UTSC and who take pride in helping the next generation.
    • Mentors and mentees are responsible to schedule meetings, which can be done via calls or in-person meetings, depending on the availability and preference of each person. In-person meetings are encouraged where possible, but practical considerations must be considered.
