Below is a list of in-course scholarships and awards available to students in the Specialist Program in Management and Economics.

Harvey Babiak Award in Financial Accounting

 

Awarded to a student completing the 3rd year of the Specialist Program in Management or Management and Economics with the highest grade (at least A-) in MGTC07H and MGTC08G.

Sandford Borins Scholarship in Public Management

$1,000

Awarded to the student in a specialist program in Management who has achieved the highest grade in the course MGTC42H3 (Public Management).

Myer Brody Prize in Entrepreneurship

 

Awarded to an undergraduate student enrolled in a Management program who has the highest grade in the course MGTC38H3 Entrepreneurship (minimum A-).

Keith and Amelia Ellis Award in Management and Economics

≈$600

Awarded to students entering 3rd year in a degree program in the Department of Management on the basis of financial need.  Preference will be given to a candidate who has shown a marked improvement in academic standing from year one to year two.

Ernst & Young Scholarship in Commerce

$5,000

Awarded to student in the third and fourth year of a specialist program in Management who has successfully completed accounting courses. Financial need is also considered.

Yurgen Krumma Award in Economics

≈$800

Awarded to the top academic student entering the 3rd or 4th year of the specialist program in Economics, leading to a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Scarborough Frank Faubert Scholarship

 

Awarded to students entering 2nd, 3rd or 4th year in a degree program offered by the Department of Management on the basis of financial need.  Eligible candidates are to be limited to graduate of high schools within the geographic limits of the Corporation of the City of Scarborough as it existed on December 31, 1997.

Type of Award: Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund

Ho Chak Wan Memorial Scholarship in Management

$5,000

Awarded to a student entering 2nd, 3rd, or 4th in a Management program. Financial need must be considered in addition to academic merit.

Faculty and Staff Award in Finance

$1,200

To be awarded to the top student entering 4th year Specialist program in Finance Stream, the recipient must be a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident. This award is based on Financial need. 

The Siddique Family Award in Management

$2,000

To be awarded to a student entering 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year in Management (preference given to students not enrolled in the Co-Op) program at UTSC, on the basis of financial need and good academic standing.

Bob and Kam Lo Scholarship

$2,000

To be awarded to a full-time degree student enrolled in the co-op Management program at UTSC with a focus in accounting, who is in their second or third year of study. This student must have a minimum CGPA of 3.3 and the award is based on financial need. This scholarship should be awarded to the student in the pool with the highest marks.

Awarded on the basis of an essay submitted by a student specializing in Management or Management and Economics on any subject covered by a B-, C- or D-level course in Economics.

Prudential Management and Economics Award

Awarded to a full-time student entering the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year in a program in the Department of Management who having demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities in his/her school or community also:

  • is a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • has a good academic record (minimum B average/3.0 GPA)
  • demonstrates financial need

Prudential Spirit Award

Awarded to a full-time student entering the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year who has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities in his/her school or community who:

  • is a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • has been a Toronto resident for at least 5 years
  • is a graduate of a secondary school in Scarborough
  • has a good academic record (minimum B average/3.0 GPA)
  • demonstrates financial need

Prudential Ability Award

Application

Awarded to a full-time student entering the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year who has a special educational need due to a physical or learning disability who:

  • has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities in their school or community
  • is a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident,
  • has a good academic record (minimum B average/3.0 GPA) - for applicants who have a cumulative GPA that is less than 3.0, but have increased to a minimum of 3.0 in the most recent sessional GPA since diagnosis and/or supports have been implemented to compensate for the disability, should explain their GPA
  • demonstrates financial need - preference is normally given to full-time students; however, students who are not enrolled in a full-time course load may explain the reasons for carrying a part-time course load

Brian David Radford Memorial Scholarship in Management

Awarded to one or more students entering the 3rd or 4th year of a Management program whose academic and athletic achievement, combined, best exhibit dedication to excellence. (Minimum B+ average/3.3 GPA)

van den Thillart Leadership Scholarship

Application

$1,500

Awarded to a student entering the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of the Management Co-op, on the basis of excellent academic achievement, demonstrated leadership experience, and financial need. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must have been born outside of Canada, and be either a Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen.

Ernst & Young Scholarships in Commerce

Application

$5,000 Awarded to students in the third and fourth year of a specialist program in Commerce/Accounting who have successfully completed accounting courses.

  • Third-year students must be a Commerce/Accounting Specialist enrolled in a third-year course in accounting (MGAC02H3 or equivalent) and who have successfully completed a second year course in accounting (MGAC01H3 or equivalent).
  • Fourth-year students must be a Commerce/Accounting Specialist enrolled in a fourth-year course in accounting (MGAD40H3 or equivalent) and who have successfully completed a third year course in accounting (MGAC02H3 or equivalent).
  • The recipient must demonstrate financial need and be an Ontario resident.

Judith Smith Award in Human Resource Management

$500 (approx.)

Awarded to a graduating student who has completed a specialist program in Management (B.B.A) on the basis of excellent academic achievement (an overall GPA of 3.0  and completion of MGHC22 and in two D-level courses in Human Resource Management).  Eligible D-level courses are:  MGHD14, MGHD25. MGHD24, MGHD26, MGHD27 and MGHD28.

Andrew Drexler and Abby McQuire Award

Awarded to an undergraduate student at U of T Scarborough in the Management program. The student must demonstrate leadership and high academic standing. 

Justine Blainey-Broker Award

Awarded to an undergraduate student enrolled at U of T Scarborough who is in good academic standing and with demonstrated volunteerism. Special consideration will be given to students demonstrating athletic involvement.

Awarded to an undergraduate student entering 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year at U of T Scarborough who is registered with Accessibility Services and/or has special educational needs due to a disability/challenge as defined under the human rights code, is in good academic standing, and displays a drive for learning. Preference is given to students enrolled in Management programs.

Mary Anne V. Chambers Imani Mentor Award

Awarded to one Black full-time domestic student entering 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year, participating as a mentor in the Imani Academic Mentorship program on the basis of financial need and demonstrated leadership in the Imani Academic mentorship program at the University of Toronto Scarborough.
