POSTPONED: Food for thought? Exhibitions as a site of critical intervention in school food policy and practice.

POSTPONED: Food for thought? Exhibitions as a site of critical intervention in school food policy and practice.

Critical health and school food scholars have been talking to each other about the troubling effects of school food interventions for some time now, in what I, along with others, have referred to as a ‘critical echo chamber’ (see Leahy, Wright & Penney, 2017). This has left many of us watching from the sidelines as efforts to curb childhood obesity in school communities continue to be amplified. Driven by a commitment to social justice and change, I decided to trial a public exhibition as a way to communicate our findings to a wider audience. In this workshop, I will invite participants into the exhibition via a virtual reality tour. After spending time exploring the VR installations, I will share some of our findings regarding the impact of the exhibition. Participants will then have an opportunity to reflect on the exhibition and share their thoughts and experiences about translating research for impact.
