Co-op: Foundation & Legacy

University of Toronto Scarborough Library & Co-op

Science Wing rooms served as a temporary library for reading & books, prior to the construction of a permanent library. Inscribed on back: Library in Science Wing. LG-4. Photograph has yellowing, cockling, crackling, stains, scratches, surface residue, creases & dents.

The Library Then:

In 1966 a temporary library was created from unused office space. Fast-forward 37 years later to 2003 with the opening of The Academic Resource Centre (ARC), which signified the beginning of the UTSC Library we have today.

As we celebrate 50 years of Co-op, we also celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the campus. Head over to the The Buildings At UTSC page where you will find more historical highlights of the library in the section: A Tale of Many Libraries.

The Library Today:

A special space for faculty, staff, students, and alumni alike for research needs, the library has also been one of many internal placement partners for Co-op students through their Emerging Professionals Program.
