Arts and Administration Building Official Opening

Painting, sculpture, dance, drama, music and performance art will have a new venue with the official opening of the Arts and Administration Building  at the University of Toronto at Scarborough (UTSC)  at 10 a.m.,  Friday, Oct. 7, 1265 Military Trail.

The $20-million facility features classrooms, studios for fine art and music and a 300-seat lecture theatre. Graduate art studio will support the university’s tri-campus master’s program in visual studies.

Designed by Montgomery Sisam Architects Inc., the 5,530 square metre /60,000 square foot, four-storey centre features leading-edge energy efficiency and environmental design. A new campus Welcome Centre has been provided as well as offices for the registrar, faculty and staff. Funding for the Arts and Administration building was provided by the U of T Enrolment Growth Fund and the Government of Ontario.

Professor Kwong-loi Shun, vice-president and principal at UTSC, will welcome guests including David Caplan, minister of public infrastructure renewal, Professor David Naylor, president of the University of Toronto and Rose Patten, chair of Governing Council.  Live entertainment will follow the formal remarks.
