BYE BYE BOTTLED WATER

Principal and Vice-President Franco Vaccarino will initiate UTSC’s ban on the sale of bottled water on campus with an event at the Meeting Place on Nov. 1 at 11 am.

As of that date bottled water is no longer sold anywhere on campus. The move is part of a university-wide initiative aimed at reducing waste and encouraging people to see water as a public good rather than a private commodity.

Bottled water isn’t actually banned on campus, but it will not be provided at university functions, sold in vending machines or by on-campus restaurants and vendors. The university is beginning to install new bottle filling stations, and is upgrading old water fountains to make it easier for students, staff and faculty to refill their own bottles.
