Campus community invited to free presentation on “unleashing the power within”

by Annesha Hutchinson
On Wednesday, June 3, the Department of Student Life presents inspirational speaker Chris Cummins in a lunchtime presentation open to all University of Toronto Scarborough staff, faculty and students.
Cummins is affiliated with Tony Robbins’ “The Power Within” program. Robbins, who has created the Number One audio coaching system of all time and inspired more than 100,000 North Americans through his lecture series, allows people to attain their goals through trainers. As a trainer, Cummins inspires people of all ages to “unleash the power within” and obtain their personal image of an extraordinary life.
Cummins, a Canadian inspirational speaker, is invited to the Scarborough campus through the Leadership Development Program. His talk will take place on Wednesday, June 3 from  11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in AA 160. Admission is free but registration is required.
Drew Dudley, Coordinator of Leadership Development, feels members of the university community should not miss out on this high-energy, inspirational event.
“What makes this [event] different is that we are tapping into an already existing approach to personal development — one that has been tried and tested in many parts of the world,” Dudley said.
Your goals can include improving your work skills, increasing your salary or being a good parent. No matter how unique your goals may be, Dudley hopes Cummins’ appearance will get you one step closer to attaining them.
“What I always hope for at Leadership Development events, is that people [are] exposed to a different perspective,” said Dudley. "There’s always hope that they are inspired, there’s always hope that they will acquire skills, but all I ever really hope for is that they feel . . . glad that they had a chance to hear this.”
Cummins, has had success in various careers, including international sales and entrepreneurial ventures. He has travelled around the world to feed his own inquisitive nature and end his long search for a career which suits him perfectly. He will speak about the driving force he has found behind his life, and inspire people in our campus community to seek dreams congruent with their personal interests.
Individuals who register for the Cummins lecture will automatically be entered into a draw of two tickets to the historic “Conversation with Former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton” taking place on May 29 at the Metro Convention Centre. Tickets to the event retail for almost $200 each. Although this event takes place before the Cummins event, individuals who register before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27 will be entered into the draw.
“The Power Within” lunch event, featuring motivational speaker Chris Cummins, will take place on Wednesday, June 3, between 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in AA 160.
