Campus Safety Week kicks off

Safety will be the focus of some activities on campus this week at the University of Toronto Scarborough.

Campus Safety Week begins today, and several events will be held on campus to raise awareness of safety issues on campus.

“We want everyone on campus to be aware of safety issues and the week’s events aim to highlight the need for each and every person to play a part in promoting safety here,” says Jenna Hossack. “A key part of safety is education, and the displays and information we are providing are aimed at getting everyone to keep safety uppermost in their minds.”
A display will be set up at The Meeting Place from Tuesday, Oct. 24 through  Thursday,  Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Everyone can learn more about the organizations and programs on our campus and community that strive to make U of T Scarborough a safer place.
The Meeting Place will also feature displays, activities and giveaways from various organizations, including the campus police, student safety patrol, U of T Community Safety Office, EMRG (Emergency Medical Response Group), Party in the Right Spirit, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and the U of T Scarborough Women's Centre.
Also, on Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. be sure to check out the Self-Defence Demonstrations, also at the Meeting Place, brought to you by the Community Safety Office.
