Celebrate the library’s 24/7 pilot project

Students can now study in the library around the clock, seven days a week, thanks to a new pilot project that began last month.
The library has been offering 24-hour study opportunities, and this term the pilot will last from October 15 to December 18. A special event will be taking place in front of the library on Wednesday, November 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to celebrate this new and innovative initiative. Free coffee and tea will be available (bring your own mug or container), and members of the library staff will be on hand to answer questions about the new hours. Members of the Scarborough Campus Students’ Union (SCSU) will also be there to represent student concerns and answer questions).

This event has been organized jointly by the library and the (SCSU) in their first partnering event. The event also features a raffle, with a chance to win one of 40 reusable Library water bottles.
With a valid T-card, students will be able to have access to the Library even in the wee hours of the morning. Food will be allowed overnight in a designated area, as well as access to the stacks and book check-out desk.
The pilot project will enable officials to determine the level of need for 24/7 Library hours. In the winter term, February 3 to April 30, the pilot will continue. At the end of this academic year, administrators will assess the level of library use, particularly at night.
The Scarborough library is the only library in the U of T system to offer these hours. Faculty and staff may also use the library during this time. Everyone is encouraged to come to the celebration, and to make use of the new hours.
