You are invited to celebrate the new Action for Neighbourhood Change resident engagement office located in Kinston/ Galloway-Orton Park.

WHAT: A celebration of the grand opening of the Community Engagement Site, a partnership between the United Way, the University of Toronto Scarborough, and Residents’ Rising, a residents’ engagement group in the Kingston-Galloway neighbourhood of Scarborough.
WHEN: Monday, March 23rd from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
WHERE: 4117 Lawrence East, just west of Kingston Road in a small plaza. (The first ground floor unit at the end of the building closest to Lawrence.)
WHO: Professor Franco Vaccarino, Principal of U of T Scarborough, Ward 43 City Councillor Paul Ainslie, MPP Margarett Best, and a representative from the United Way.
WHY: For the first time, UTSC will be delivering a course at what is called a “community engagement site” located off campus, starting in summer 2009. A space is being leased by the university and contains a large classroom, an office and a library, and the site can be used by students as well as by local organizations interested in having access to the student research. Students will commit several course hours per week to volunteer with different agencies in the Kingston-Galloway neighbourhood.
