About the Artists
Autorickshaw's music lies on the cultural cutting edge, as contemporary jazz and funk easily rub shoulders with the classical music of India. Formed in 2003, Autorickshaw has swiftly risen to become one of the most intriguing acts on the world music and jazz landscapes, garnering a 2004 JUNO nomination for World Music Album of the Year. Autorickshaw has toured widely in Canada, including appearances at the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Vancouver and Winnipeg Folk Festivals, as well a numerous appearances at the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto. US appearances include performances at Joe’s Pub in New York City and at The Kennedy Centre in Washington DC.

"The ensemble consists of a mash-up of four of Canada’s most exciting and musically interesting young musicians: vocalist Suba Sankaran, tabla player Ed Hanley, bassist Rich Brown and exotic percussionist Debashis Sinha. All four have achieved excellence on their respective instruments. When their forces are combined, the results are utterly unique and musically pioneering." [The Record]

Equally at home in the standard works as well as contemporary repertoire, Duo Diorama (Minghuan Xu, violin and Winston Choi, piano) has been establishing itself as one of the most exciting and charismatic duos of its kind.  Comprised of two renowned soloists who can effectively blend their distinctive personalites together to create a unified whole, the duo maintains an active performing and touring schedule.  They recently had their successful NY debut at Carnegie-Weill Recital Hall and have performed all over North America. Their upcoming concerts for the  2006-07 season will also bring them to such international destinations as Argentina, Brazil, China, Hong Kong, Sweden, and Switzerland.

“Xu's fiddling featured spotless finger and bow technique, a keen feel for dramatic flair, and a big, sturdy tone free of forcing. Choi’s sound was lively and lucid... and his shaping of material showed insightful articulation of phrase and voicing. [-New Music Connoisseur]
