Lecture: Climate change, ocean acidification and marine ecosystems
Dr. Ken Denman, a Senior Scientist with Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Adjunct Professor at the University of Victoria, will be speaking at a free lecture on Tuesday, February 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. in AC223 at the University of Toronto Scarborough.
His talk is titled “Climate change, ocean acidification and marine ecosystems.” This event is part of a tri-campus series organized by the University of Toronto’s Centre for Global Change Science as part of its Distinguished Lecturer Series.
Denman is a researcher at the Canadian Centre for Climate Modeling and Analysis at Environment Canada, and was one of the authors of the 2007 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, sharing the Nobel Peace Prize with former U.S. vice-president Al Gore in 2007 for its work on climate change. Denman’s research involves the interactions between marine ecosystems, biogeochemical cycles and climate change. His current research interests centre on forecasting the responses of marine ecosystems to the acidification of the oceans and to other aspects of climate change.
