If you’re a new student coming to the campus this fall, you’re invited to come on out and participate in Orientation 2009.
This is your chance to learn about all of the programs and services available within the U of T community and to meet other students during three days of lively activities happening between Tuesday, September 8 and Thursday, September 10. You’ll also be able to meet faculty, staff and student leaders who can support you during your career at U of T Scarborough. For a complete list of activities, www.scsu.ca/orientation.
Don’t miss three days of fun, with unforgettable activities, events, music, food, performances, presentations, prize giveaways, and lots of fun! Some of the highlights include a carnival, hypnotist show, musical showcase and scavenger hunt! Last year, some of the prizes included a laptop computer, three SmartPhones, and a limousine ride.
The theme of Frosh 2009 is “Connect 2 U”. It’s a great opportunity for first-year students to learn about and become connected to U of T Scarborough. You can meet other students and student leaders, learn about university life, and make lifelong connections to your new community.
“University is an exciting time in the life of a young person, and we chose the theme of CONNECT 2 U because Orientation is a time to make new connections, to get to know your way around campus and meet new people,” said John Aruldason, vice-president (campus life) on the Scarborough Campus Students’ Union (SCSU). “At this stage of life, people themselves are changing and their own interests and hobbies change during these years, and so Orientation enables them to connect with new and different things.”
“Many students say that some of their best university friendships were formed during Frosh Week, and I really enjoyed my own Orientation,” added Aruldason, a third-year student in political science and history. “These events aim to provide a learning experience about the many programs and services available at UTSC, but Frosh Week is also a great way to make new friends, have fun and learn your way around the campus. Some of the best events of the year happen during Orientation.”
The early bird fee for Orientation is $35 per student for the first 500 participants. After that, the cost per student will increase to $50. For more information or to register for Orientation, visit www.scsu.ca/orientation.
