Toronto, ON-- Tom Enright, President and CEO of Canada NewsWire, has accepted the position of Honourary Chair of the Mentorship Program at University of Toronto at Scarborough (UTSC).
“I have been fortunate enough to have had three mentors so far in my life, and truly believe it has been enriched as a result,? said Enright. “Now that I have been a mentor myself I have come to realize that my life continues to be enhanced through this incredible experience.?
The Mentorship Program at UTSC pairs undergraduate management students with “mentors?: successful graduates who are already working in the student’s field of interest. Mentors provide students with first-hand knowledge and advice on enhancing their marketable skills, and provide insight into today’s rapidly changing business world. This support helps students make informed choices as they move forward in their careers.
Enright graduated from UTSC in 1976 with a B.Sc. in Mathematics, and has more than 24 years experience in the electronic publishing and financial information services industries. He has held progressive positions including General Manager of The Financial Post DataGroup, and for 15 years was with the Toronto Stock Exchange in a senior management capacity. He has participated in the UTSC Mentorship Program since its inception two years ago.
?This program has so much to offer both students and mentors,? said Enright. “The students gain practical knowledge and mentors have the opportunity to help equip the leaders of tomorrow with the skills they need to succeed. I’m very excited to be able to play a role in the growth of this program as the Honourary Chair, and have the opportunity to help more students and alumni have the same wonderful experience that I’ve had.?

A joint initiative of the University, the Management and Economics Students’ Association (MESA) and the UTSC Management Alumni Association (MAA), the UTSC Mentorship Program will kick off with a Wine and Cheese Reception on Wednesday, November 26th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Miller Lash House on the UTSC campus.
