Learning and Changing Lives

Ali Akbar discussing with a local entrepreneur

There is no better way to learn than to be there yourself, as any student who has studied or worked abroad will tell you. In the past year, 25 U of T Scarborough students visited nearly a dozen countries around the world through the International Development Studies Co-op program and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship Program (#QEScholars). These experiences brought home the reality of what the students were learning in class, and gave them an opportunity to be a part of the local organizations working to solve local and national problems. As the year comes to a close, we’d like to share some examples of the great work that our students have been doing.
