Waheed Hussain

Biography
Waheed Hussain joined the faculty at the University of Toronto in 2014. His research interests lie mainly at the intersection of moral and political philosophy, economics and business. A former fellow at the Safra Center for Ethics at the Kennedy School of Government, Professor Hussain was a Laurence S. Rockefeller Visiting Faculty Fellow at Princeton in 2013-14. Before coming to Toronto, he was an assistant professor at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Waheed Hussain’s work has appeared in a variety of academic journals, including Philosophy & Public Affairs, Economics and Philosophy, Journal of Business Ethics, Business Ethics Quarterly, Social Theory and Practice and the Journal of Moral Philosophy.
At the time of his death in January 2021, Hussain was completing a book, Living with the Invisible Hand: Markets, Corporations, and Human Freedom. The manuscript was edited by his friends Nicholas Vroulasis and Arthur Ripstein, and has now been accepted for publication by Oxford University Press. It will appear in 2022.
