With her passing in 2010, the iconic Canadian painter and educator Doris McCarthy bequeathed over 200 major artworks and her personal and artistic archives to the Doris McCarthy Gallery (DMG) at UTSC. Established in 2004, the DMG is dedicated to the presentation, collection and dissemination of contemporary art in all media. This generous gift will provide momentum to the DMG’s fundraising goal of building a larger gallery space to accommodate full-time exhibition of McCarthy’s work in addition to ongoing contemporary programming. To find out what’s on at the DMG and how you can help support the gallery, visit www.utsc.utoronto.ca/~dmg.

Ann MacDonald is the director and curator of the Doris McCarthy Gallery and a lecturer in the department of arts, culture and media at UTSC.
