U of T launches $2 billion fundraising campaign

The University of Toronto has launched Boundless, the most ambitious fundraising campaign in Canadian university history. University of Toronto’s president, David Naylor, kicked off the campaign at a spectacular ceremony at Convocation Hall on November 20, 2011.

“Canada must have universities that can achieve two related goals: conduct the advanced research that will help solve the grand challenges humanity now faces, and offer the best and brightest students an exceptional education to help them build a better world,” said Naylor. “No university in Canada is better positioned to meet those objectives than the University of Toronto.”

With an unprecedented goal of $2 billion in philanthropic support—nearly half of which has already been secured—Boundless will unleash the vast potential of the U of T’s community of alumni, students and faculty to make increasingly bold and innovative impacts on the global issues that matter most to Canadians.

Georgette Zinaty, executive director of development and alumni relations at UTSC, says the consultative process at the heart of Boundless presented an enormous opportunity for collaboration within the University’s tri-campus community.

“Not only does the Boundless campaign set new milestones for fundraising achievement and international leadership, it also dovetails perfectly with UTSC’s strategic departmental goals, the campus master plan and the new global reality in which our students and alumni live,” says Zinaty.
