When making accommodation requests, students need to give the university (AccessAbility Services, Faculty, and Staff) ample time to ensure that accommodations will be available when needed. Students should factor in not just requesting the accommodation but meeting with the staff and providing documentation if requested.
Please see the deadlines below to help ensure the service has enough time to arrange accommodations or other supports.
Requests to Register for Services (Intake and Documentation Review)
Registration deadline: March 15th, 2024 to consider final exam requests (you can register anytime but depending on the timing we may not have enough time to implement accommodations)
*Requests to Register received after the deadline will be considered on a case-per-case basis for exceptional circumstances (This includes completing the Online Intake form and up-to date documentation).
Registering at the end of a term e.g. March/April may result in the service referring students to the petition process as the service may not have enough time to meet with a student before the end of the term to determine eligibility, assess their disability-related needs, create and implement an accommodation plan.
Requests to Change Accommodation Plan
Deadline to request changes to accommodation plan: March 15th, 2024
Depending on the nature of the request, and considering the term is almost over, the service may not have time to implement an accommodation request within the time frame to implement before the term is over. If students are considering requesting a change, we encourage you to follow up with your healthcare provider, gather relevant documentation and book a meeting with a Disability Consultant by mid-February as this will help reduce any wait time for implementation.

Test and Exam Accommodation Request Deadlines
Mid-Term, Tests, and Quizzes
- The deadline to request accommodations for mid-terms, tests, and quizzes using myAIMS is 14 days prior to the date of your test.
Final Exam Accommodation Request Deadlines
- Winter 2024: Friday, March 15th, 2024 at 4:00pm
- Summer 2024: Friday, July 19th, 2024 at 4:00pm

All final exam accommodation requests must be submitted via myAIMS.

Deferred Exams
- To receive accommodation for deferred exams, please submit a Deferred Exam Request Form by the final exam period deadlines posted above.
- It is not necessary to provide a date prior to submitting the request form. Once your petition has been approved by the Office of the Registrar, you should submit a Deferred Exam Request Form at your earliest convenience. Forms can be found on the Online Forms page of this website.

Requesting Notetaking
Deadline to request note taking services: March 15th, 2024
The service requires enough time to set up this accommodation before the term ends.
During the term, if students have not notified AccessAbility Services about missing notes for more than 3 weeks following the applicable lecture, we may not be able to retrieve notes for those lectures.
OSAP Bursary for Students with Disabilities/Canada Study Grant
- 60 days before the end of your OSAP-defined study period (application must be submitted)
- You can determine your OSAP-defined study period by checking your OSAP account on the OSAP website.
- Students requesting funding must book to see their disability consultant 90 days before the OSAP-defined study period ends to ensure there is time to schedule an appointment and for the staff to assess disability-related educational expenses.
