Time Management 101

Do you have a lot of assignments due close together? Are you not sure how much time to spend on an assignment or is it hard to know how to juggle all your responsibilities?

Join us to learn how to feel in control of your schedule. There will be activities throughout the session, to help you practice the different learning strategies discussed.

Topics will include:

  • How to prioritize your assignments
  • How to visualize and better judge your time
  • How to break down your assignments

Note Taking Workshop

Are you taking in-person classes for the first time in a while? Does the idea of taking notes in class feel a bit overwhelming?

Join our note taking session and learn how to make the note taking process efficient and less painful.

Topics will include:

  • How to identify important information to record
  • How to use assistive technology to make note taking easier
  • How to pick a note taking style that fits your needs

Accommodated Exams Process

In this workshop, the Accommodated Tests & Exams team will walk you through the exam writing process, from checking in your belongings to writing your exam with accommodations.

Topics will include:

  • Requesting exam accommodations through myAIMS
  • How to check and confirm your exam location on myAIMS
  • Arrival and check-in at the exam space
  • Utilizing the accommodated exam space

Social Communication Workshop

People communicate with one another on a daily basis and these skills are refined throughout one's lifetime. Often times we face social difficulties, social rejection, or interpersonal conflict, however there are many ways to navigate through these situations.
 
In this workshop we will:

  • Reflect and understand how we communicate and behave in social situations
  • Learn how to communicate with confidence in social situations
  • Identify what specific improvements you would like to make
  • Practice skills in a safe space

Kurzweil3000 Refresher

Has it been a while since you used Kurzweil3000? Forgot your username and password? Come join us for a Kurzweil3000 refresher! We will explore the reading and writing features of Kurzweil3000 for use in your school work and studying.

  • How to open, read and annotate your texts
  • Utilizing the universal library for essay writing
  • Writing in Kurzweill3000 for studying

Active Study Methods Through Integrating Technology

Do you study best when around others?

Do you need a virtual space to help keep you motivated and accountable?

Join our virtual study space to help you get to work! These sessions will be facilitated by our Learning Strategist Allison Brown who will help you set an achievable goal for the session. Bring your final assignments or study for your exams, everyone is welcome!

Preparing for Accommodated Exams

Not sure where to start or how to make a study plan?

Will this be your first in-person or university level exam?

It is normal to feel nervous about writing to in-person exams, whether this is your first time or if you haven’t done this in a while. Join our exam prep session to learn how to prepare and utilize your accommodations effectively.

Topics will include:

  • How to prepare for exams – deciding “what” and “how” to study
  • Using your exam accommodations effectively
  • Strategies to manage anxiety during the exam
