Deadlines!

The online applications for the 2023-2024 academic year opens on October 1, 2023. It is strongly recommended that you apply well before the deadline:
First Deadline: February 15, 2024 (payment required & supporting documentation); Domestic applicants apply by this deadline to be considered for an entrance scholarship; International applicants must apply by this deadline
Final Deadline: May 15, 2024 (payment required & supporting documentation due)

How to apply

Applications to the Master of Environmental Science (MEnvSc) Program must be submitted to the School of Graduate Studies (Admissions Application) using an online application which is housed on a secure server at the University of Toronto.

A valid email account is needed to complete the online application, as the University will correspond with applicants using email.

The online application allows applicants to manage and submit biographical and educational information as well as specific documents (Interest Statement, Curriculum Vitae, etc.) immediately to the University. Applicants can edit an in-progress application and check the status of all documents submitted using a secure password and Userid.

Log in to the online application.

  • Select the graduate unit (Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences)
  • Indicate attendance type (full-time or part-time)
  • Select program of study

Complete the following items:

  • Enter your personal, contact and other required information 
  • THREE Letters of Reference (maximum five) submitted by referees whom you have qualified in advance to provide a favorable reference on your behalf. Inform them that the University of Toronto, School of Graduate Studies will be contacting them by email. Referees will be expected to upload their reference by our stated deadlines. Applicants are responsible for ensuring at least THREE reference letters have been SUBMITTED by the deadline(s). 
  • Upload Unofficial scanned transcripts for each post-secondary program completed, attempted, or in progress. Usually, this will be a scanned transcript, but in the case of Canadian post-secondary institutions, the applicant may submit a screen capture of their academic record from their institution's student web service. Please include an official grading key. Transcripts should include your Fall grades for the current school year. 
  • Upload your Resume or Curriculum Vitae.
  • Upload your summary of interest statment

Arrange fee payment

Applicants must pay by the above stated deadlines in order for their application to be considered. Any applicant who pays after the stated deadlines will not have their application considered for admission.

Arrange to complete and submit Official English Facility Test Results (for applicants who have graduated from a non-Canadian University).

Be aware of the deadline dates for application and documents. In order to be considered for an entrance scholarship the early deadline applies.

Your application is reviewed by an Admissions Committee.  All aspects of your application are thoroughly considered.

Selected applicants may be contacted for an interview either in person or remotely (e.g. Skype).

 

Notes:

The application review process will begin with your scanned transcripts alone. You may be asked to submit official paper transcripts before an admissions decision is finalized.

Applications are considered complete and can be reviewed only after all documentation is received online and the application fees has been paid by the deadline date. If you need to send in any supporting documentation (other than MELAB English Facility results), please send directly to the Graduate Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences (MEnvSc Program), University of Toronto Scarborough, 1065 Military Trail, M1C 1A4 and email dpes-menvsc-program.utsc@utoronto.ca

Please DO NOT send supporting documentation to the School of Graduate Studies as this could significantly delay the processing of your application.

Only required doucmentation will be considered by the admissions committee. Any additional documents submitted beyond what is required will not be included in the review of an application.
