Inspired by the University of Toronto’s motto Velut arbor aevo—“May it grow as a tree through the ages”—we believe that by strengthening the bonds between alumni and our alma mater, the MAA will positively contribute to our alumni’s personal and professional growth. With our collective experience and knowledge, the association will also seek to foster the continuous development of U of T Scarborough Management as the premier undergraduate business program in Canada.

I started my journey at UTSC as an International Student doing my BBA (specialization in Finance and International Business) and I completed my four-year degree in three years with the intention to impress Usain Bolt. After graduating, my first break came in the petrochemical industry, as an accountant, which was not my field of study; nonetheless, I had the chance to dip into—and successfully be rotated throughout—the accounting and finance operations team. I worked on the ‘nitty-gritty’s of AP, AR, GL, budgeting and cash accounting functions. After several years, I had the opportunity to finally work in the area I most enjoy and am passionate about: treasury and financial risk management. Experiencing activities from banking relations to treasury operations, cash flow forecasting to cash and debt portfolio management, hedging strategies to insurance policies/claims, and from extensive financial analysis/modelling to financial risk management, it’s been an eye-opening journey. I feel that having the fusion of accounting and finance experience leading to a career in treasury/risk management is an excellent asset for all to have. I eventually became a Permanent Resident and now live the Canadian dream whilst enjoying my obsession with music, cricket, food, and DC comics (and also being a renowned jester in my family and friend circles). |
