“We value the diverse mindsets and innovative ideas that our co-op students bring to each challenge.”
– John Lee, National Manager of Marketing & Pricing, Nissan Canada Inc.
Congratulations to John, recipient of the Student Choice Award
for his contributions as a Management Co-op employer
and supervisor in 2020.
A valued partner of U of T Scarborough co-op programs, John Lee was named the Student Choice Award winner after being nominated by Georgia Lee, Co-op Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
Specialist in Finance Candidate 2022, who reported to John during her work term as Sales and Marketing Intern at Nissan Canada Finance (NCF) in Winter 2020.
“On the first day of my work term, John introduced me to every NCF department. He and his colleagues were always open to explaining their thought processes, which helped guide me in my first-ever professional experience,” Georgia said.
“I was involved with several impactful projects throughout my work term, including the pandemic business-continuity log. I was tasked to deliver this daily report to senior management, field managers, my department, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth communication of issues and progresses that came up during the initial COVID-19 response. Through this project, and John's mentorship, I learned how maintaining communications in different circumstances can help emphasize that everyone on the team is working towards the same goal.”
From John's perspective, the unique opportunity for Nissan Canada to mentor talented students, like Georgia, helps the organization provide industry-leading services to the automotive market.
“They come to us equipped with a creative thought process, dynamic adaptability, and cross-functional capabilities. We value the diverse mindsets and innovative ideas that our co-op students bring to each challenge. Working side by side, they help us continuously evolve our business,” he said.
Way to go, John and Georgia!
