Congratulations to Maegan, recipient of the Student Choice Award for her contributions as a Management Co-op employer and supervisor in 2022.
A valued partner of U of T Scarborough co-op programs, Maegan Ong was named the Student Choice Award winner after being nominated by Claire Ma, Double Degree in Quantitative Finance & Statistics (BBA & BSc) candidate, who reported to Maegan during her co-op work term as a Power BI Engineer Intern at Scotiabank.

“Maegan has gone above and beyond her duties to enhance my career growth, my personal development, and my academic experience,” said Claire (pictured below presenting the Student Choice Award alongside Kendal Egli, Senior Marketing and Communications Strategist, Department of Management).

“Even before I started my role, Maegan shared various resources that helped me learn about Power BI and coding in general. She invested countless hours to help familiarize me with bank tools and all of the teams we work closely with, not to mention entrusting me with projects that had a direct impact on the units we were supporting. Now, I can confidently add Power BI to my resume!”

Maegan describes the opportunity to mentor phenomenal students like Claire as highly rewarding, both professionally and personally.

“It’s inspiring when co-op students see firsthand the value that their work creates for Scotiabankers and for customers. Claire’s passion, positive attitude, and ability to pick up concepts quickly made her a huge hit with the team!" said Maegan.

“The co-op program is an invaluable resource that helps our future leaders gain experiences, connections, and exposure.”

Way to go, Maegan and Claire!
