United for Literacy (formerly Frontier College)

Students in an activity

United for Literacy runs excellent and effective programming to improve literacy in communities across Canada, from coast to coast to coast.

United for Literacy is seeking out UTSC student volunteers. As a United for Literacy volunteer, United for Literacy asks for a commitment of nine months following training for most volunteer roles, which requires being available once a week for two-to-three hours. While volunteers don't need to have teaching experience, they should:

  • Be open to a variety of people and experiences
  • Have English or French language skills - and other languages are a definite asset
  • Be enthusiastic, patient, flexible, and creative

Commitment: Once per week for two-three hours, starting in October. Various days and locations are available to allow you to commit to what works with your schedule.
