Similarly, creating a personal brand involves figuring out who you really are. Generate realistic career options and identify characteristics of your personal brand by assessing your skills, interests, personality and values.

Are you thinking about applying to graduate school? Do you have questions about application procedures, awards or scholarships? If so, please attend this session.
Getting Started on the Personal Statement (AA&CC and The Writing Centre)
The personal statement is a key element of your applications for graduate or professional school, scholarships and study abroad programs. This workshop is designed to get you off to an informed start. The online preparation will provide important background, introducing you to exactly what a personal statement is, how to think about your audience, and what your goals might be. In the hands-on workshop we will introduce some of the key writing techniques for effective statements, and look at some examples to illustrate these. We will also cover editing techniques which you will have an opportunity to practice.
Preparing for the MMI
The MMI (Multiple Mini Interview) has become an admission requirement for many professional healthcare programs used to assess an applicant's soft skills.
In Part 1, you will learn how the MMI is different from a regular interview in this interactive workshop and explore strategies for answering interview questions.
In Part 2, we will practice for video interviews, and understand the qualities that admissions committees look for when interviewing applicants for different healthcare professional programs.
These sessions are offered in partnership with the Scarborough Pre-Med Society student group. All are welcome!
Virtual Grad School Café
The Graduate and Professional School Peer Coaches are U of T grad students who want to help you with your grad school exploration and application process! (AA&CC and Writing Centre staff can also do that, but maybe you'd like to meet some students who are doing that work right now.)
At this informal Zoom drop-in "cafe", you can bring whatever questions you have; no preparation required.
Bring your mug and join us for a hot beverage and we'll discuss:
- how to look for and gain relevant experience including research experience
- how a CV is different from a resume
- strategies for writing a personal statement
- grad school interviews (how to prep, what to prep, etc.)
- alternatives to grad school (graduate certificates, professional development, MOOCs and more)

Summer & Full-time Work Search Strategies
Did you know that a large percentage of jobs never get advertised broadly, possibly 60-80% of them? Come to this workshop and learn about the hidden job market as well as not-hidden job posting websites. Discover alternative job search strategies and resources that can help you generate and follow-up on leads for jobs you really want.
Virtual Networking
In the age of social distancing, it is tough to build up your professional network. In this session, we will explore strategies about where and with whom you can network, and how to create and maintain lasting, mutually helpful connections using your virtual devices through an online platform, a.k.a. LinkedIn!
Interview Ready
Learn and practice successful interview techniques, including effective preparation, handling difficult questions, as well as remote interview strategies.
Jobs for Grads Orientation - Job Search Crash Course
Jobs for Grads is a job search "crash course" that is designed for upper-year students and recent graduates.
Participants will gain the following job search strategies and resources from this workshop:
- How to utilize CLNx job portal & other job search portals
- Know yourself and identify skills you have
- Hidden job market and how to use diverse job search methods
- Market yourself: Networking and LinkedIn

Job Seekers Club
This 4-week workshop series is for all UTSC students and recent graduates who are actively looking to find employment. Join small cohorts of like-minded students/grads and develop impactful job search skills with support from peers and career specialists! The series will focus on:
- Tools to succeed in this current job market
- Opportunities to expand your connections
- Strategies to reach your employment goals
- Connecting with professionals from the field
How to Get Research Experience
In this workshop, students will explore resources, different ways to develop research experience, and learn how to put together a strong application for a research opportunity.
Virtual Career Café
Join us at our [ONLINE] Career Cafe where you will get Job Search Support, and enjoy warm and friendly conversation with the employment peer coaches.
This is an informal yet informative session where you can chat with your peer UTSC students to go over your job search questions.
At Career Cafe, you will meet our friendly employment peer coaches and chat about anything related to careers, including:
