Every Tuesday starting June 1 @ 3PM: Combatting Racism From Bystander to Upstander
"COVID-19 has sharpened the structural and societal inequities that have long existed and permeated disproportionately across racialized communities. These inequities have been maintained by power dyamics that translate into lack of access to resources and opportunities. These wokrshops aim to create a safe and inclusive space to explore how inequities create psychological distress, impact physical health and maintain cyclical deprivation. Participants will explore ways these inequities are embedded in cultural ideas, artifacts and symbols of the superiority of a specific culture and a race. We will also discuss the Willl and practicl Ways that can help us tp move from bystander to upstander-taking purposeful and impacful acions to combat anti-Black racism, anti-Indigeneous racism, Islamophobia, and other forms of oppression."
Every Thursday starting June 3 @ 1PM: Find Self-Acceptance Using Principles of Self-Compassion
"This group seeks to provide a space to explore our understanding of ourselves using a compassionate focused lens. The journey into building a healthy relatiohip with yourself starts ith learning principles around self-acceptance, self-image, self-esteem, self-confidence and ideal self. This group uses a trauma informed, intersectional approach into exploring identity with curiosity and compassoin to learn skills on the path to creating a loving relationship with yourself."
Every Thursday starting June 3 @ 5PM: Understanding Yourself, Understanding Your Anxiety
"You are not alone, to experience anxiety. Anxiety makes you feel worried, nervous and uneasy --constantly. Anxiety is the most common psychological concern among post-secondary students, exacerbated many folds in wake of VOCID-19, racial inequalities and uncertainties. No matter, how your anxiety manifests, this eight week series of workshops offer you practical, relevant and effective strategies, including specific mindfulness-based practices to deal with anxiety. Each session begins and ends with a brief mindfulness practice."
Every Friday June 4 @ 11AM: LGBTQIA2S Pride Month Support Group
"The LGBTQ+ support group is open to any students who identify within the LGBTQ+ community or may be questioning their gender identity and/ or sexual orientation. The group provides an opportunity for folks to connect and share what's happening for them currently in their lives as we build community together. The group also offers space to explore topics related to LGBTQ+ lived experiences."

Looking to stay active while at home? Try one of our FREE 4-week virtual registered programs – Dancefit, Kickboxing, Ballet, Latin Dance, Volleyball, Basketball and Soccer. Videos are released weekly on Monday and begin the week of May 17th. Registration is required at recreation.utoronto.ca
